THE WORLD HARMONY FOUNDATION & NASLCC AID COLOMBIA ON THEIR FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19
NEW YORK, NY, Dec. 23, 2020 – On November 22nd, the leaders of different organizations joined forces in a press conference celebrated in JFK’s Terminal 4 of Avianca Airlines. The reason for this event was to donate 200,000 KN95s and 3-layer medical masks to Colombia. The organizations that teamed up to make this donation possible are the World Harmony Foundation (WHF), the National Association of State Latino Chambers of Commerce (NASLCC), and several Chinese companies are in action to aid the (COVID-19) pandemic. The WHF, NASLCC and NASLCC’s Women President Task Force with cooperation of other non-governmental organizations held the handover ceremony. This charity action is the first time that these organizations have joined hands to donate masks and medical supplies to South America. These masks will be distributed to vulnerable communities In Colombia, such as those of women business owned organizations, children, and hospitals. Most attendants to the ceremony joined the event via Zoom. This virtual conference was joined not only by members of the different organizations but also by the office of the Vice President of Colombia, Martha Lucia Ramírez. The Vice President and her office staff recently recovered from the COVID-19. This event was organized by the Rock Oriental Foundation, New York, and the entrepreneur members of WHF, within the donors are: Qingyuan LEITE Technology Development Co., Ltd, Guangdong China and Kangye Medical Technology Co., LTD, Guangdong China of the WHF.
Within the speakers of the mask handover conference were leaders of the organizations that were involved with the logistics and/or cooperated to make this donation possible. Among the speakers/participants of the conference were Nicole Edwards (CEO of the WHF), Frank García (Chair of the NASLCC), Frank Liu (one of the founders of the WHF), Francisco Marte (NY Bodegas Association), Luz Giraldo- Duque (Chair of the victims organization “Adelante Colombia”), Eduardo Giraldo (Colombian leader & former chair of the Queens Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and NY state Coalition of Hispanic Chambers of Commerce), Carmen Hernández (NYC’s LGBTQS Chamber of Commerce), Fernando Echeverri (FundePaz Priest) & Bishop Ebony Kirkland. During the conference, the leaders expressed the importance of joint efforts like this. Many of the them looking forward for future collaborations like this.
Organizations that participated in the donation charity action or were involved with it are the following: World Harmony Foundation (UNEP-NGO), Rock-Orient Foundation, National Association of State Latino Chambers of Commerce, Abby Razo (Chair of Colombia’s NASLCC Women President Task Force), Oscar Mejias (NASLCC Executive board member), Quenia Abreu (NY State Women Chamber of Commerce), Latino restaurants Association, Bronx Hispanic Chambers of Commerce, and American Chinese companies. It is part of the plan of some of these organizations to continue making charitable donations to developing countries still in the epidemic, including developing countries in Africa, Asia, and South America.
